Nah, this was a user who came in with a track already done, but wanted somebody to record some guitar parts that he had already written. I recorded them, came up with some additional parts of my own (which became additional layers in the song), and a bunch of general recommendations to make the song better.

I signed up for the song of the week thing but I've never written anything for it. :p I've been writing music, but on my own timeline. I've got about ten minutes worth of solid ideas recorded (that have yet to be turned into full songs) and I'm basically working on three albums at once. I still won't have anything out for a while though. I have a post here from probably over a year ago saying I'd have something within the year lol. I've broken free from the writer's block but now my problem is that I am having serious trouble establishing my identity as a musician. I won't go into it because nobody cares about this rant, but I'm sure some of you can relate.


@Joel: I'm late but I like that piano/violin piece you posted. Has a 'noir' sound to it for lack of a better term, something I think you'd be great at.

Yeah I write way better songs on my own timeline too than I do for the group, but I kinda like the challenge of doing something new all the time

Been trying to figure out what else to add to this song. I like the sparseness of it but it needs something more I think

I think that single guitar part in 1:27 seems kind of empty, so either add another instrument over it, or cut that part down just a tad bit.

Back to my song, I'm fucking around with one guitar in drop d, and the other in standard. While some parts have the same basic chord name (like both are G chords) but it'll be an open G5 chord layered with a drop D Gsus2 chord.

I might have to figure out how to edit it in the standard tuning chords, because some of them aren't fully barred like they forced on me. I need to see how to fix that shit.

And also yeah I kinda agree. I might add vocals or something to it, because I think there's enough drone-y shit in the song by now. It didn't really seem like a long section when I was recording it but I guess it ended up being around 30 seconds long. I might try to get someone to drum it a bit, but my normal drummer already said he's busy so I don't know if I can convince anyone

Idk if I'll submit it to the group, because I don't think I'll have it done by Sunday "maybe", and I might use that group as a way to work on my lo-fi acoustic shit.
