Like Sam was saying, the WoW community can be pretty crap. I was never a hardcore WoW player and I never claimed to be one, but seriously now:
I played WoW because I had fun and I liked it, so I didn't bother to search up how I should skill. I just skilled however I wanted to. My main was a shaman and I skilled Melee, which I actually liked. Now random people running past me start talking to me and tell me that I should skill Elemental. Some even called me an idiot for skilling "the wrong" thing.
There's more in WoW, of course.
Now like Grungie said, yeah, that's usually the case that people only play one (the newest) game of a series and act like they know the whole series. They just wanna be part of the cool kids.
I joined the DBZ forum to talk about DBZ, but then I kinda realised that you can't just talk about it. You "have to" calculate the power levels and add SSJ/Kaioken/etc. multipliers and then you need to compare it to canon material, which is obviously manga only. That really kills the fun.
And when playing DBZ games online, I usually end up fighting spammers that play Broly or other OP characters.
So yeah, DBZ fanbase isn't my thing either.
I usually have bad experiences with fans of the things that I like. And since I'm a gamer, I could talk a lot about the whole PS vs Xbox crap. I can't even play PS without getting called a fanboy. "Doesn't matter that you have a Wii and a Xbox 360. You said you like the PS3/PS4, so you're a PS fanboy."
