welcome. why do we fight?
03-04-2014, 07:17 PM
Because fighting is fun. Duh.
03-06-2014, 02:15 PM
but how can fights be real if our fists are not?
03-07-2014, 04:54 PM
Because then you're not real therefore unreal fists can hurt you.

It's like the concept of "imaginary numbers". How can we use them, if they really don't exist? Because "FUCK YOU, THAT'S HOW!"
03-08-2014, 04:16 AM
Because real numbers don't exist anyway.
03-08-2014, 07:09 AM
Well, all numbers are simply constructs we have used to give the concept of value and multiplicity to basic objects.
03-08-2014, 08:45 PM
Numbers, and all other concepts, are necessary beings, i.e. if nothing material existed, they'd still exist as potentialities.
This means that if God is real (and therefore non-contingent), He is no more or no less necessary than numbers, which is weird.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean Joel.
The funny thing is that most real numbers can't possibly represent anything physical. Anything physical must be represented by a rational number (rational numbers are the set of any number a/b such that a and b are integers). Irrational numbers could only exist in an ideal world. |
