Recording videos

I know some of you have youtube channels, what do you guys use to record the videos? And do you use additional microphones for sound?

I use either a crappy Mini DV or my laptop (the latter of which is of higher video quality).

I used my shitty webcam. I'm gonna try my iPhone for my next video.

That's all.

If I did I would probably just record with my digital camera which has okayish video and then do audio with my mic. But I have yet to record anything worth putting out there.

The reason I'm asking is because I want to make videos of my playing to track my progress. Get a bit of an outside perspective.

I don't shoot videos for that (even though maybe I should), rather opting for just recording audio.

I can't always see myself playing, thats why I thought it would be good to reconrd. A lot of the times you also play and you think it sounds alright, till you play it back and you hear how awful it truely is.
