(pun sort of intended, but kind of failed)
As much as I don't care about Dream Theater, I played the John Petrucci signature Musicman and it felt and sounded amazing.
I've played JEMs, and imo it's pretty meh

It's probably because i dislike FR style bridges in general though, and i'm not a big fun of super thin necks
Thin necks just don't have great tone

And i think that new cheap JEM is not as good as far as quality for what i heard
I don't usually like guitars the first time I sit down and play them, and if I do its usually because I'm just excited about buying it and I'm not actually evaluating the quality. Normally it takes me a couple months to really enjoy any piece of gear.
Idk, i've had guitars that i knew from the moment i played them they're amazing

But yeah it takes a while to really know if your gear is shit
I guess I've just never played one that good.

Interestingly enough, I played a JP signature the same day I played the JEM, because my friend told me to try it out. I was in fact not bad, but not at all my type.
