So i tried learning bass when I was younger, but i was still in high school when I gave it up. When I got into college, I was working and just didn't have time to dedicate to learning it.....now, I'm out of college and currently not working so I have a lot of time on my hands and I was thinking of picking up a new bass and amp, a starter set for fairly cheap ($500 or less for both items) and trying again?

Can anyone recommend me some good bass/amp combos for around this price range that's good for a beginner?

What should I do as someone with NO musical talent at all or any kind of real music background? I really want to learn how to play though....

note: It should also be noted that I am nearly completely (95%~) deaf in my right ear......I wasn't when I stopped trying to learn bass.......

Any tips/advice?
Well if you care more about just being a beginner and learning the instrument, you can look into Squire's Affinity bass pack. For $300 it's the full starter pack and has everything you need. Bass, amp, cables, etc.

If you're not planning on jamming with anybody any time soon, that's basically all you need. Once you start getting serious, then you can go out and get a significantly better amp, as that's the most important part.

You might be better than you think.  I'd look up some popular bass YouTube channels etc. and get back into it.  I mean, at least it's free.
