In the best of all worlds, no fists are thrown though. You shouldn't just fight because it's the first thing that comes to mind, because that can easily get you in worse trouble (again, gang member, etc).

It's the same thing; honour implies family. Like in Le Cid; the whole dilemma in that story lies within Rodrigue either killing the father of his fiance to defend his honour, or to not defend his honour and therefore not being good enough for her.

Yeah, I'd react the same way, but I'm sure I'd feel bad afterwards if I seriously injure them. I'd go as far as to kill someone out of legitimate defense though, if they're threatening my significant other.
