Quote:System of a Down, also known by the acronym SOAD and often shortened to System, is an American rock band from Southern California, formed in 1994 and currently consists of four Armenian-Americans:[1] Daron Malakian (vocals, guitar), Serj Tankian (lead vocals, occasional keyboards and rhythm guitar), Shavo Odadjian (bass, background vocals) and John Dolmayan (drums).

This band is awesome. Funny thing is though when I tell people I like this band they always tell me I would like Rage Against the Machine which I, in fact, do not like.
I moved this to the metal forum as they're closer to metal than rock (inb4 metal elitists)

I used to listen to these guys all the time in high school, but I kind of fell out of them. I still own all 5 of their albums.

There's metal elitists on this forum who don't think SOAD are metal? Confusedhock:

For the record, I tend to think of them as Alternative Metal.

I really like Hypnotize and Mesmerize. Some of their songs are just so wtf though. Like they have one song that starts out with them going, "Banana!"
I bought Hypnotize used, but it sucks how I accidentally got the censored version instead of the uncensored version. I still never replaced it with an uncensored version outside torrenting it.

They are a bit odd, I think it was the Vicinity of Obscenity when it's all about banana terracotta pie.
And the idea of banana terracotta pie itself makes no sense...Which is why the song is weird. I like most of their songs, but some of them make you wonder what kind of drugs they took when they wrote/recorded those songs.
It took me years to get over the way Serj sings. I didn't start to like it until I listened to his solo album, but now I like them alright. A few of my friends in high school were really into them.
I can never really decide if songs are Bounce are filler or are the most important songs System has ever made
What makes you feel that it's one of their most important?
It was kind of a joke, but I think its pretty much just as serious as any other soad song I can think of, barring songs like lonely day
