Me and Bob are so different, lol. I love swimming in my pool :p

Different how? The pool thing or with your dad?

I actually had a pool (one of those small inflatable things) for most of my childhood that I loved, I just can't bear (god dammit is it bare or bear, I can never remember and neither one makes sense) having my head underwater for some reason. That and roller coasters are my big fears, I know they're irrational.

My brother is pretty wealthy now that he's married, but I don't know if he can continue living like he is. He made about 30-35k and could live off that with his new house okay, and his wife makes like 90k so they can pretty much use that to play around with, but damn, they buy so much crazy shit. He got a brand new challenger about a year ago, she leases new cars, they just got a 70" tv, they're excavating their enormous driveway and then building a garage, they go out to eat many times a week, almost exclusively buy expensive organic food, go to auctions and buy stuff every week, and there's tons of other stuff

She seems to be really responsible but I dunno how much it can take. I'd hate for it to crumble down on them.
idk, 90k seems like a lot to burn through

My family isn't rich. We just have one or two luxuries, like the in-ground pool. Though it is 25 years old. No fancy new cars or awesome vacations, or giant 80 inch tvs :p

Man, being super rich would be awesome. This is what my garage would look like

:haha:

New topic. Name stuff you would buy if you were super rich!
It depends on specifically how much they are spending at auctions, etc. and how much that garage will cost. It is expensive; both of my grandfathers had one built. Not surprisingly, one had to sell his property because he couldn't afford to keep it, the other voluntarily moved out and lives semi-legally in a hangar now. Now that I'm thinking about it, only a handful of people in my extended family have not overspent their finances or are in danger of doing so soon. That's what happens when you need luxurious garbage to keep yourself happy.

@New topic: If I had a bunch of money I would move to a more expensive city (aka cities that don't suck), but not live in a giant house. I would pay to travel all over the place from time to time because I'm lame, and if I wanted to record music or something I would pay for studio time. Other than that, I would fund and get involved in whatever innovative projects I wanted to, and fund as well as get involved in certain political groups. Maybe instead of getting involved directly, I would just be a lobbyist who lobbies to destroy other lobbyists.

Edit: Oh and if I had lots of money I could just by my way into the British immigration system so I would probably do that to (which I am still planning on doing even with the financial stuff I mentioned; I am working on a reasonable deal with my parents, taking out a smaller student loan, etc.)
I don't see why traveling would be lame. I think that's what a lot of people would do. I certainly would.

Also, regarding your previous section, I don't think just because something is luxurious, it's garbage. I don't think money can buy happiness but having stuff you want can help. I was definitely happier when I got my nice guitar and didn't have to play a piece of shit anymore. I would love an awesome exotic sports car because I love cars. Having them as status symbols is a little dumb but actually wanting a nice car (because they are better) isn't a waste of money in my opinion if it's something that that person will really enjoy.
Of course there is nothing wrong with having luxurious things, but that is all my family (including 90% of my extended family) live for, rich or not. I'm a bit hypocritical because over the past four years I have gained probably around $3000 in music gear, but my priorities have changed now. I am happier with my 'cheap' (it cost $700) flamenco guitar from Mexico that looks all beat up than I am with my $800 strat plus $350 vox amp.

Edit: Oh and travelling is not lame but I feel lame going somewhere with no real purpose. Like going to Hawaii because you want to hang out on the beach. When I went to Hawaii the most interesting thing I did was talk to indigenous Hawaiians about their legal status. >_> So for example, if I went to Hawaii to aid their cause or something, I would feel like there is a reason to travel, but just going somewhere because it looks cool would feel lame to me. I'd just end up falling for all the tourist traps and be uneducated.

Granted that's hypocritical because there are several places I want to visit that I have no reason to go to.
>$700 guitar

>cheap

wut
That's why it's in quotes.

We are talking about being millionaires after all.

Edit: Also keep in mind I got that other guitar and amp for half off so in theory they are 'fancy, expensive guitars' compared to the one that I referred to as 'cheap'.

My point is that I'll probably never buy a really expensive guitar because I'm satisfied with what I have.
Why are you so intent on living in Great Britain? Are you trying to hide from something?

For me traveling would about be about seeing those "tourist traps" though not only that of course. Idk, I would much rather travel to Europe and Asia and Africa and see all the cool places that you can only look at in pictures than talk to people. But that's just me. I can talk to people everywhere I can't see the African savanna, or The Great Wall of China, or Venice everywhere :haha:

Though I do hate really touristy stuff. I would most likely try to look at things myself and be my own tour guide. Well I would most likely be with other people but you get the idea, lol
