My problem with a lot of British comedy shows that I've seen is that it's either too dry for my tastes, or the punchline is along the lines of "I get it... but I don't think it's funny"
There's good stuff in the IT Crowd (loved the internet in the box episode) but I generally hate to watch it. Something about it I find really annoying.

When I first saw trailers for it, I thought it would be awful. It just looked like a really crap comedy show, but I really enjoyed it when I eventually watched it. My only real gripe is the laughter.
So there's this guy in my group of friends is kind of an idiot and is always saying dumb shit like "__ is the band's best album, and it's the only one I've heard"
How the hell can you make that statement?

Well, for him, it IS the best album, but it's also the worst, and the in-between, and whatever else. It's still a stupid thing to say, but if you look at it from the right angle, he's almost right. Almost.

A pet peeve of mine is when people say "_____" (usually the most popular) is someone's best song when they've only heard a few.

Well he's also one of those idiots who hangs out on forums and Reddit way too much, so all of his opinions are verbadum from what he's read from stuff posted online.
He's good at parroting, but unable to expand farther.

Or something like "____" is my favorite band and the only songs I know are the only 2-3 songs on the radio. I've heard that significantly less after I got out of high school.
"___ is my favorite band"
"Name 3 songs of them that you haven't heard on the radio"
"..."
That's usually my conversations with people who have no music taste at all (by that i mean they don't know music in general, not that they have shitty taste)
Then there's:
Them: "So, what type of music do you listen to?"
Me: "uh, y'know, Prog, jazz, various types of rock and metal, etc."
"you?"
Them: "Oh, i listen to an annoying generic repetitive bit that rhythm-less people like me can dance to"
Me: "..."
I don't know why, but I've noticed I tend to prefer the non-hits of bands. Not for hipster cred, but because they seem to be different in nature to "hits" and they're more my type of tunes, I guess.

Depends on the band for me, some bands have the rest of their albums sound different from the singles. I also think an album sucks if the best songs are the singles.
