Oh yeah, miles is still used way more than kilometres. One of the few things that has so far evaded metric. In Wales you get them in Welsh and English for the 3/4 people who still speak predominantly Welsh. And make sure it's good batter at the chippy, because cheap batter is vile (but that might be the middle class side of me talking).
As for the weather, apparently we're in for a heatwave, but they threaten that every summer and it probably won't compete with the hotter bits of 'murica. Normally it alternates between cloudy and sunny and it's humid in both conditions. When I've seen countryside from other countries, including 'murica, I do feel it could be here, just on a nicer day.
One minor thing I didn't expect to be different is using a button to flush a toilet. It feels weird, especially when mine has 2 buttons and they both flush...
Ah, yes, don't you have those in the US? I think they're for saving water, somehow, but I'm unsure why they use less water. There're still plenty of lever-style ones around - for instance, upstairs in my house is a lever but downstairs is a button, because the shitter downstairs is more modern. The buttons are an EU thing, I believe, in an attempt to stop water waste.
But people love pressing buttons, if anything they'll waste more water trying for fill their button mashing desires

There's auto flushers, but buttons are new to me.
Also I'm not sure how a button makes it waste less water, it probably just pushes up a lever or something simple like that. Who knows.
I'm finally starting to get over my jetlag, though it getting dark pretty late here is a bit disorienting.
why won't weezer do songs from the black hole ;_;

They'll eventually release it like Smile by the beach boys. Though Rivers has released a lot of it through various sources.
So there's a group of people we dub "bird watchers" because all they do is stand at certain fences taking pictures of all the planes that take off from our airfield, nobody understands them and why they have so much free time. Apparently they're there all friggen day.
