Well, not all '90s bands are alternative. Like Buckcherry's hard rock, although a few of their songs have alternative influence. There were a lot of bands like Buckcherry in the '90s. Although, that band may be a bad example, because their biggest hits are from the '00s.

Lol, I didn't even know they had songs in the 90's.
Well their first album didn't come out until 99, so that barely qualifies as 90's music.
Also the year they start doesn't necessarily mean much if their released material is much later, kind of like how the Deftones started in 88, but their first album came out in 95.

Yeah, I know. But they basically were part of a certain section of '90s rock that have a similar thing in terms of sound/song structure. There were a lot of '90s bands that were basically inspired by Guns 'N' Roses and '80s Hard Rock bands.

Yea, I always think it sounds kinda odd. I guess a few get allowed in based off of what the person running it at that time likes.
But yea, classic rock stations are way more about a certain sound than anything being a certain amount of years old
How old are the people complaining about hair metal not being classic rock? haha. I mostly think of classic rock as being 70's and 80's stuff. 60's I'd call oldies mostly.
Maybe they're mad they have to listen to Hair Metal.
I don't see why you'd listen to a station that plays a lot of hair metal when you don't like hair metal. Doesn't make much sense.
Some people like dedicating a lot of time to shit they don't like. I don't get it either.
