you know ive been wondering if im really a good guitarist or more like im only good because I can play almost anything i hear because suck at anything like improvisation or just generally making something up.
like, ive come up with a few riffs and whatever, but really nothing special.
i guess it really just comes down to what defines a good guitarist. his ability to learn or create, and if its 50/50, am i only half as good? baaaaah.
It depends on how you look at it. Some people are really good at writing music, but can't play for shit, and vice versa. Like let's look at classical musicians, are they bad musicians because they didn't write any of those songs?
So you can say you're a good at playing guitar, just not maybe a creative guitarist.
Isn't the C# only used in A major scales? I think it would be just C in an A minor
mmm good point.
speaking of which, ive been thinking of doing a cover of travesty by haste the day. wwf might remember. :3
i discovered the fast runs were a little off just a tad toward the end. needs updating.
Idk, I'm just curious what key I'm in, as I'm only using an A chord and two versions of D.

Yeah I'd guess A major. I could be wrong though

i dunno, after realizing i missed such small detail, it seems soo much more fun to me now.

Guess I'll have to wait til Sam or Joel comment on it. Might record a couple variations of chorus riffs to see which one flows better.
Haha I said that? Well I was right I guess

I'm really just circulating around the A and D chords in 3/4 time and playing with the dynamics. The opening is full distorted guitars, and then they fade when the chorus starts. I'm at the end of the verse, but idk where to go from there...
I really need to figure out what key I'm in to see what chords sound good, as this are the only 3 chords I'm using so far:
0 0 0
0 0 0
2 7 6
2 7 7
0 0 0
X 0 0
Idk if you can tell if it's in A Major or Minor
In E standard, the chords are Asus2, Asus2add11, & Aadd9. Asus2 has no 3rd, so it's neither major or minor. Same with the 2nd chord. Aadd9, however, has a C#, which is a major third. So, I would say this is in Amajor.
Note: add9 or add11 chords are what chords are called when you have 9 or 11 (so, in the key of Amajor, a B or a D respectively) but do NOT have a b7 (the note G is the key of Amajor).
Btw, you picked some "weird" chords. They're all A chords, to me, but that 2nd chord in particular is odd. It might balance things out if you added a major 3rd to that chord. So, one possible voicing could be:
That would still be an A chord in this progression, but you will get a different sound, because the C# (our lovely 3rd) is now right below the E (which is the 5th in any A chord). The 3rd voice is then A (the 7th fret on the D string). Definitely still an A chord, just has a different sound. Should be a bit more balanced too, soundwise, imho.
This new chord would be called Aadd9/11.
Anyway, just a suggestion...if you don't like it...
