(I wouldn't have more than 16GB of storage with a smartphone though, I'm sure.) Of course, in all honesty, if my iPod is fucked, I'll probably just buy a used one off of eBay. There's some fairly reasonably priced ones for less than $150.
Look up a 120GB Zune, Zune's are pretty good as I used to have one.
I just found a tape warp VST, this might sound great with my tape saturation vst.
I don't get how small smartphone capacities are. 16gb is ancient technology even for a mobile device.
16 isn't small for a phone really

That's what I'm saying. I think it should be small and it's weird 16 is the norm. Not that I'd never need that much but hdds with way more capacity wouldn't be hard or much more expensive.
Although I guess I'm kinda glad they don't force you to pay for the extra space.
Like I said, we've had mobile affordable 16gb hdds for ages. Everything else has progressed a ton but phone space has pretty much stayed the same. And storage capacity is constantly shooting up. Terrabytes were unheard of a few years ago and are now the norm.
Mobile phone makers won't be making 1TB phones for awhile. I think the reason why the phone storage hasn't progressed much is because the average consumer doesn't actually use all that space. It's pretty much like how cheaper computers don't have a ton of storage space, the same goes for phones.
