I can't find any valid sources (unless you count Reuters lol) but I've heard that the Kurds in Syria declared independence. I was hoping that if anything good happened in this war that that would be it. Can anyone confirm this?
I can't confirm it, but I do know that the Kurds have been wanting a Kurdish state for a couple of decades at least. If they did declare independence, it's been long due.

Yeah, I've known that too. They've controlled towns in the north ever since the war broke out, and are (from what I know) the most respectable of the rebel groups. They've been fighting with Islamist extremist as well, and the Kurdish movement operates independently of the Syrian Free Army and its influenced groups, so I'm rooting for the Kurdish rebels above all else. I've lost faith in any good outcome but I haven't lost faith in Kurdistan.
Useless blog post coming up. :p

Today I learned that Russia Today is the second most-watched non-American news network in the US after the BBC. That is weird to me.

A look at their website further confirms my belief that Russia is what the US would be like if the extreme far-right was unleashed (except if they didn't hate communism or nationalised health care).

lol
I find it sad that Obama wants to pick a fight with Russia, my sister's in the military and she says we're severely understaffed because Obama downsized it too much. So it's impossible to go to war right now.
Plus, it'd be war with Russia. This wouldn't be some fight with relatively disorganized Taliban fighters. The Russian military is no fucking joke.
Let's ignore they're still using shitty Soviet equipment from the 80's *cough cough
I do not support intervention anyway. There is nothing the US and EU, even combined, could do (for other obvious reasons like trade relations). It's not worth the costs for so little gain.

Edit: This is also just teenagers talking, but I find it disturbing that so many of my peers like Putin because he's a 'badass', granted I mostly hang around homophobes with masculinity issues. :p
While I do disagree with what Russia is doing, the US isn't doing a good job being convincing either.
I can't disagree with that.
I basically see it like this:

US - Hey Russia, stop it or we'll like... we'll give you an angry letter telling you how angry we are
Russia - Lol, watch me
US - but what you're doing is bad
Russia - don't care
US - *cry

I'm sure you saw that on a certain other site.
