Whoa. I've never encountered that kind of ignorance, but i can definitely see how that would piss you off.
What I just don't understand is that while some people are just in denial, others genuinely 'don't see' how what they are doing is racist.

It's just stupid how there is this backlash against not being racist:

A white kid throws racial slurs at a black kid via text messaging and gets in trouble.

My school's interpretation: "Black people say the n word all the time! He's just using his right to free speech and he's been singled out because he's white!"

And going backwards:

Black student union is founded by a teacher who grew up in Apartheid South Africa and can relate to the racism faced by minorities at my school.

My school's interpretation: "How come black people are allowed to start a club and white people can't? Let's do everything we can to ban this club!"

What pisses me off is that at a school with a student body that is 90% white, a large faction of white students manage to turn everything around to make themselves the victims because they want to get away with saying what they say and being 'on top', and by doing so they are only making the racism worse.

I watched some black comedian say that white people could never handle racial profiling, and after seeing so many people react negatively to being asked not to be racist (and interpreting it as anti-white) it's even more true than I thought.

Fortunately I'm sure this will already have blown over when I go to school in a couple of hours.

Also I forgot my favourite quote from this fiasco: "Wetback isn't a racial slur; it's what they actually are."
The thing that makes it a little hard for me to understand is, Israel is a pretty racist and intolerant country, but in a very different way than the U.S. or Europe.
My entire life i've watched movies from America so i understand the culture and everything, but it's just that over here, even though white people (known as ashkenaz) are not really the minority, they are the ones mostly being bullied and such in school, while the rest (people from more arab heritages, Maroko, Yemen, Iraq, etc) are usually being discriminated for being uncivilized/uneducated and stuff (which is actually true, in many cases)

Basically over here, everyone are being discriminated against in one way or the other, though it's mostly white being are being discriminated against culture wise, while the rest politically and law wise.

For example, if at school someone threw a brick through a window, if you're white you're basically off the hook, but if you're brown, you're a valid suspect by the schools eyes.
However a white kid would probably get picked on and beat up more often.

It's one of things you'll get better once you experience it for yourself, kinda hard to give out all the connotations by explaining it

But i feel ya man, it can get really frustrating.

Oh. My. God.
This is why going to 90% white schools suck.

Though What I've noticed is that a school that's almost entirely one race tend to be bad with racism. Gotta have some diversity to mix it up. It makes people get used to being around people that aren't your race.
The fact that people need to be reminded that other kinds of people are people too is what irritates me.

Edit: also, somewhat relevant:

Well there's always gonna be stupid people no matter where you go.
I've never really experienced anything like that. There are some assholes around here, but for the most part, everyone I knew always got along with everyone else. Confusedhrug:

There actually aren't a ton of black people were I live, for whatever reason, but there are a lot of people of Hispanic, Asian, and Indian decent.

I don't have time to respond to everyone else's responces right now but I was wrong. It's even worse today.

This is sensationalist media at its finest but there is a lot of truth to it. The KKK was never actually involved though just so that's clear, but there was something of a 'whiteout' as I said. People still deny that any racism exist.

This is how most people at the school seem to feel, but there are people who think this is stupid. A friend and I already messaged these people privately telling them why they are wrong and that they are making themselves look bad. We got no response, of course.

My favourites from this page:

Quote:Maybe it's just maturity that the "oppressed" students were lacking. More so than racism towards them

Quote:As we know, Ironwood is NOT a racist school. Though it is a White dominated school, there are no signs of abuse towards any minority

Quote:White players have always joked around by saying "Nigga" too. Never has a black player made a comment feeling discriminated against.

Also tomorrow is Halloween so I heard a bunch of idiots actually say they want to organise a thing where a bunch of people come in blackface. I'm 97% certain he wasn't being sarcastic.
I've honestly never known any people that retarded.
