I think they take themselves seriously, but seem like a joke to everyone else.

I don't know why sub-genres are so important to metal people. Its another one of the reason I've lost my taste for the whole genre. All the fans seem to be up their own asses about something.
It's not as much the genre that I dislike as much as it's the subculture (though I'm more concerned with post-1990 metal, being a glam metaller myself). That said, practically all of my friends have at least a soft spot for brutal stuff.
I'm just not into the brutal stuff
I'm not into people who use brutal to describe anything they like, except maybe a tough workout. I feel like metal people make a point to make everything gross and demonic or whatever. That just doesn't jive with my outlook on life at all.
The most "brutal" thing I like is BTBAM and they aren't really that much any more. Older stuff was pretty extreme though.

I don't get the whole "brutal" thing though. I just think they're chill, lol

Me neither (I really don't get it), but I once was into Children of Bodom.

They need to make brutal metal about cuddling and love and acceptance, and punk rock about respecting authority and having a government.

I was upset the first time I heard BTBAM. At first I thought it sounded awesome.

Then the vocals came in.
i like some brutal hardcore every once in a while. i have a few good blogspots bookmarked for hardcore, emo, and screamo. i have a lot of obscure metal that i never listen to in my itunes library. the subculture for metal makes me never want to listen to that entire genre of music ever. every person i know that listens to metal is awful. i'll cover that in my genre dissection that i'm gonna do eventually.

also, debbie, BVB and your other glamcore shit isn't post-hardcore. post-hardcore is stuff like At the Drive In and La Dispute and Touché Amoré and mewithoutyou. i think glamcore would be a pretty good name for it, since it's basically a really shitty version of glam metal mixed with a really shitty version of pop-metalcore.

BVB dropped most of their hardcore influences after their first album. Now they're aiming to be the new Motley Crue mixed with Kiss.
Do not, repeat, do NOT, ever mention glam metal and any form of metalcore in the same sentence.

BVB is NOT glam metal. I refuse to accept it as such.
i've never listened to any of their albums. i just know what they're like now.

well duh. they're a shitty hybrid version of glam and metalcore. they don't represent actual glam metal.
