My body is lacking in the dopamine department.

halpplzthx
Guys, I think something is wrong with me. I think...I'm turning into a vegetarian. Not by choice, if I might add. The smell and taste of especially red meat is just so off putting that I can't eat it. It smells rotten to me...

You just need a hug, Joel.

I've been debating with myself lately regarding the ethics of eating meat (mostly while cooking steak, which is a weird feeling to have)... I feel like it would be a lot easier for me if I didn't enjoy the taste of it.

I dunno, maybe you've just been around a lot of tainted meat lately (a few years ago, a big meat company in Canada, Maple Leaf, sold meat that ended up being tainted with listeriosis, as far as killing between 9 and 20 people across the country, and they needed to recall all of it). It might not be a bad thing you have. Perhaps hundreds of thousands of years of evolution are kicking in and telling you to avoid meat for health reasons (I don't know how to genetics so I could be wrong here). Red meat isn't the healthiest thing in the world in the first place either, so avoiding it isn't a bad thing to do.

Either way, I can only tell you that I hope you figure out what's wrong and that you feel better about it, whether you become a vegetarian or not, although being one isn't a bad thing in itself. I too, recently saw pictures of tainted pork under the microscope and immediately understood why the Jews consider it unclean. Let's just say it's pretty gross.

'T'would be nice, indeed. The answers to my philosophical skepticism and general confusion would also be nice Sad

I'll just vent a little bit.

Meh, I feel slightly better from yesterday, which I think was mostly a biological depression (which is what I meant to convey by "lacking in the dopamine department"). Since I've gotten into music college, I've been feeling a lot better about my life, both because I finally feel like I'm doing something worthwhile of it, and because being more social than my usual self seems to be distracting me from my personal and philosophical problems (although I always have a gut feeling reminding me that those problems are present). People in Quebec City are also much more generally enjoyable and kinder than Montrealers, ironically (I say that and I'm from Montreal, lol).

Despite all this, I do still feel somewhat cynical. I feel like most people don't really care about what's right or wrong and mostly behave out of what is convenient to them (or to the very least, don't educate themselves on philosophy which, in my opinion, is the basis of all knowledge, and allows a better understanding of ethics), which I know is a bad way of looking at things. I realize I'm a little ageist because I tend to look lowly at people my age and look up to older (and sometimes even younger) people. Note that when it comes to cynicism, I say "most" people. One of the friends I've made here is really nice, smart (this is the second college diploma he's working for, after natural sciences, and he's a couple months over a year younger than me) and educated in philosophy (so I can talk ethics with him despite him being big into the infamous nihilist Nietzsche, whom I ever particularly liked), mature, and just a generally cool guy to hang out with.

Practically all of my colleagues (I know a few other guys who are similar to me when it comes to this subject, including my ex-druggie childhood friend who recruited me for this college, as well as my aforementioned friend) are also the types who glorify drinking and doing drugs (being musicians and teenagers, and all), and when I look at these aspiring scholars, some of which are visibly brilliant and talented, destroying their bodies and brains with alcohol and drugs, it just depresses me. I almost feel like people think I'm weird for drinking alcohol solely because I enjoy the taste and because it's a beverage, and never to get a buzz, as well as avoiding all drugs, despite the fact that virtually everyone has up to now either told me that my choice is okay, or that it's good (the latter of which my hippie friend has said, lol). Drugs have always been a sort of social barrier for me and other people and, although I won't crucify anyone or not be friends with someone because they drink or smoke up, it makes it difficult for me to feel close to them, partially because I wouldn't want someone I'm close to to deliberately ruin their health or lives.

I dunno. Maybe I'm just incredibly stubborn, but can't shake it off.

Hah, this post ended up much longer than expected.
As much as I love watching anime, I really hate the idiots this fandom attracts.

>refuses to watch fansubs because they don't want to break the law and support the author/studios (seems legit so far)
>reads illegally uploaded manga
>pirates his music

so much for not wanting to break the law and supporting the artists.
^ lol. Preachers who don't practice are the worst.
Yeah, that's what urks me is how he's really anal over only watching licensed stuff. Though it's really confusing that he dickrides one legal website and refuses to use other legal websites, even ones that are legally available on Youtube. He also refuses to buy DVD's and stuff, which really confuses me on what he's preaching over.
Wait wait wait wat
Don't worry, it still won't make sense if I explain it, but here's his deal:

>wants to support author by only watching legal shows
>uses only one website for legal streaming
>refuses to use other legal websites
>refuses to watch shows not on his favorite site
>also refuses to buy DVD's
:haha: that's hilarious.
The only thing with his deal that's somewhat logical is how he refuses to buy the DVD's of his shows because they're expensive. Which I kind of agree, because $50 for 12 episodes does seem pricey, though they're now Bluray/DVD combo, so that's not too bad, but still expensive for unemployed people.

Though he's proven himself on the website multiple times that he's kind of an idiot. He's one of those people that are super opinionated over things that he has little to no knowledge over and has really uneducated opinions over just about anything. He'll literally say something stupid like "Fender guitars are shit because they never put humbuckers in them".
