A lot of it really is genetics. My hygiene is otherwise good. I do sometimes get compliments for my hair (lol it looked so bad today) and smell (lol)
Of course. Genetics is a huge part of it. And diet, as well, btw. But you can't control it, really. For a while, I did actually use acne wash, but it didn't really much, other than dry my skin out.

Maybe not as much as you think. Some people are dicks like that, but most people probably don't even care. I know, when it's your acne, you care. But most people probably don't think you're gross or whatever.

Quote:I can relate though. When I get them they're normally massive. But they don't just go away despite not being messy. They sit there for days/sometimes weeks no matter what.
I would try a dermatologist then. I mean, it can't hurt, right?
I notice acne/spots, but it doesn't bother me or make me think of someone as unclean or whatever. And I can't talk, as I always have a few spots. I'd maybe get less if I cleaned my face better, but I'm loathe to because my face dries out really easy (and I'm prone to eczema) and I can feel that, where as acne is purely aesthetic. Obviously, I do still keep it clean, I'm not a slob.
Oh yeah, its definitely down to genetics. One of my best friends in high school was a "pizza face", and he was probably better about washing his face than I was. No one ever gave him shit for it though, and girls still found him attractive, so I guess it wasn't a problem.
The most stressful thing about acne is when you finally manage to get rid of a pimple, but you suddenly notice another one in some random part of your face.
I used to have one right on the tip of my nose that I couldn't get rid of for months. It faded a bit, but I became realllly self conscious about it, but eventually got rid of it. Then I got another one in near enough the same position, a few months later. They were angry red and real obvious.

Other than those ones, I've never been much bothered by acne. I remember a friend of mine was like "ah shit i've got three spots" and I was going through the worst acne I'd ever had (and had since), so I was like "dude, that's nothing, have you seen mine? She just said that my skin was fine and she hadn't noticed my acne, which made me realise how much people worry about their own compared to other's.
I had really bad acne problems when I was a teenager. I got it on my face, neck and heavily on my back. It then got better when I was about 18. Then at the age of 22 I started developing adult acne, which is worse since your skin is not rejuvenating itself as much as when you are younger.

I went to the dermatologist for prescribed medication and it worked like a charm. As years go by the deep scars I have are starting to fade but you can go for a series of micro peelings if it doesn't fade on its own.
Is it just me, or are most people who claim they're open-minded usually closed-minded?
Joel, that is s close minded of you, your mind is clearly not as open as mine, which is si enlightened. Bloody Canadians, all the same, never have anything worth while to say.
lol.

I tend to see it a lot with liberals (read: most people I know), who refuse to actually debate with conservatives or put themselves in their shoes. That isn't to say there aren't crappy conservatives and decent liberals, but as you can see, this is the type of thing that fuels my lack of faith in humankind.

Something I also see a lot of is people who look at controversial articles (such as one where a person is found guilty for something such as child molestation or first-degree murder) and describe what horrible, atrocious things the authorities should do with the criminal in question, ultimately missing the irony that they're probably more fucked up than the criminal him/herself.

I can't stand it when people approach an issue nearly entirely emotionally, with less logic than it takes to fill up a gnat's left testicle.
Man, I know that feel all too well, my friend.
