I was just making a statement.

I hate it when people think they've added to a discussion by saying things like, "Hindsight's 20/20". Yeah, thanks for that nugget. The point isn't that we can't do anything to reverse what happened; rather, the point is to keep unfortunate things from happening again. What can be done to prevent this exact situation from occurring in the future?!

It's really fucking terrible.

And not to distract from it but my state is really stupid about this shit. I know people (including my dad at times) who try to force gun-related activities onto their kids like this as basically a political statement.

When I was seven my family made me fire a .22 even though I didn't want to. #trauma

Yeah, exactly. But it's one of those things where you have to wonder if the trainer was even following protocol. It sounds stupid, but isn't there a policy (enacted by the shooting range) to prevent this kind of dumbass thing?
