I hate playing an a# chord. It feels like when I go to switch I am tryung to play an f chord but got it wrong. It feels... awkward.

I assume you mean an A# major chord? Like so:


I'll be honest. I've been playing for 11 years, and I don't even bother to fully barre the chord. I never play the note on the high E string. (You don't really need to, since that note [F, in this case] is already sounded on the D string.) Any barre chord like that, I just play the notes on the A, D, G, & B strings. It's much more economical. I put my index finger on the A string note (A#, in this case). Then, I barre the notes on the D, G, & B strings (F, A#, & D in this case) with my ring finger. I don't see why I should try to put 3 fingers down on the D, G, & B strings; as opposed to putting down a single finger on those strings. hrug:


Of course, barring like that means I'm muting the high E string. As I said, not really an issue though. The chord still sounds very full.

I rarely barre the full chords like that.

I do barre chords often; it frees up fingers to add or remove notes from the chord to give it different voicings. My guitar is really easy to do barre chords on so that helps.

I do barre chords. I don't know why, I find it easier.

Okay, I am going to complain about something and it is going to seem really frivilous but bear with me. Now that school is slowing down and summer is nearing I am getting a lot more free time and I am BORED. I need to take on a third hobby to soak up some up my free time. #firstworldproblem
