Those bands are also Psych bands as well. Art rock is such a broad term as it's kind of silly.
They probably just want an experimental sound.

But I mean...it's...well, how do you define such a broad term? lol. It's like saying "Metal" to someone like me. I'm gonna be like, "So, are we talking Thrash, Death Metal, Djent, what? lol". For instance, ask what bands they consider influences towards their overall sound and songwriting process.

I think art rock just sounds fancier than experimental, and maybe slightly more pretentious, as somehow your music is more art than the others.

I met them today. They said that they're not sure what sound that wanna go for. They just want everyone to bring their own kinda style to the party and see what they end up with.
From what I read on art rock is that it is so broad that some people consider it not really a genre...

That's not really good to start a band and not have an idea what to go for and just throw everything together.
Normally when amateur bands do that, it'll sound like shit.

^ I've been meaning to listen to their side projects for ages, but they're yet another name in a list of many. So much music, so little time.
I picked up 'Allelujah! Don't Bend Ascend a little while a go - is pretty damn good, though not as good as Skinny Fists IMO. I think I prefer it to Yanqui, though I'm not too sure. Haven't listened to F# in forever, so I can't compare. But yeah, 'Allelujah is really great. I love listening to albums like it for the first time, because it's the most intense. Feels good.
