It's worse in the anime of long running Shonen Jump stuff, because they're also compensating for them gushing out episodes, and compensating for the manga still being written at the same time. It probably wouldn't be as painful (or have filler arcs) if they released the seasons separately like other shows. It'll give the authors time to write more chapters, and they don't have to compensate. Iirc, they did that with Fairy Tail, where they stopped it for awhile.
One guy that Yoshi knows once said in regards to Attack on Titan "I heard the budget for this show is so big, that it takes a couple of years for them to make the show, that's why they only push out 25 episodes". I'm just sitting here thinking "hm, how about you watch other types of shows"
