It's always a bit irritating when you ask people for advice on what type product you should buy and then keep saying, "No buy this!" after you've already decided what you're buying. It's like they assume you didn't do your research or weigh your options. Now, I can understand their reservations sometimes, but I'm buying what I'm buying for a reason.
For example, I'm going to buy a Sustainiac Model C (http://www.sustainiac.com/model-c.htm). I've researched several options and so on. I have one guy who's still trying to tell me I should buy an actual sustainer pickup. Yeah, well...I don't want to. I like my SD Blackouts too much to replace one of them with a sustainer pickup. Something that clips onto my headstock works just fine. (I'd prefer a pedal, but pedals don't really cause extended sustain; they just "fake" adding sustain, much like reverb does.) I could, of course, buy an actual guitar that has a sustainer pickup pre-installed, but I don't think now (with me getting married soon) is a good time to buy a new instrument.
Anyway, this one guy keeps going on about how, "NO! You need an actual sustainer pickup." I don't want one right now. Leave me alone, dude. I've made my decision here. The money may not be spent yet (I'm saving it up), but I know what I want. Go away!
Edit:
And another guy is suggesting I buy a $600 Fernandes guitar. That isn't a bad price. BUT the Fernandes sustainer pickup system costs $359.99 alone. (It includes electronics, a high output pickup, and a few tools.) So, that means, we're left with ~$250 for both wood (body and neck) AND the Floyd Rose type trem and the basic hardware (truss rod, tuners, etc.). So, chances are, the trem is not good quality. I know enough FR trems to know I shouldn't buy a guitar with a cheap one. (Note: The guitar is on sale, but still my point stands, I think.) I'm not gonna tell him this, but buying a guitar like that would NOT be a smart buy.
