Yeah, awhile back I was reading some kid talking about dropping out of school because of depression from this:
It's like... cry moar 4edgy6me
Man I don't miss being 15.
Quote:My objections are not limited to restrictions on freedom of expression, but the most basic of personal liberties and rights which are unreasonably denied in the school environment on a daily basis.
Here are a few:
My freedom to express an opinion on an issue relevant to my life, and to have that opinion taken seriously
My freedom to express an opinion which differs from that of a teacher without being "shouted down"
My freedom to wear (within reason) what I feel is comfortable and suited to my personality
My freedom to use a mobile device which I have purchased during my free time
My freedom to challenge an abusive person without being bullied by the leaders of an authoritarian hierarchy
My freedom to be able to perform basic human sanitary functions such as using a bathroom when necessary
I try my hardest to be a polite, respectful and reasonable guy. I don't expect much, but I do expect to be treated as an equal member of the human race, and not an inferior being who is expected to follow unreasonable orders, respond to aggression and abuse with courtesy, and give up some very basic personal liberties. Another problem is that those who refuse to go along with this bullshit are sometimes told that they're throwing away their education, when this is not the case at all, and it is in fact education professionals who actively restrict the education of those who DO care about their education but refuse to buy into the complimentary indoctrination into a faulty societal system built around blind obedience and mindless conformity.
