So hot news on the internet for the past month is that the incredibly popular anime Attack on Titan is now dubbed in English. What I always find hilarious, is that every time a show gets dubbed, people are now magically voice acting experts/critics and will write essays critiquing why every English actor doesn't fit the character, and how they can't act, and they can't elaborate a damn thing on the Japanese cast besides just saying it's perfect. It's also hilarious when you see that 60 second clip and everybody is an expert on how everything is voiced in those 60 seconds.
This obvious double standard is pretty pathetic at times, and the denial of it being a double standard is just as bad. Though the reality is that they're not really critiquing the casting quality, they're bitching about how the English actors sound different than the Japanese actors. That's what's really going on when you read between the lines. Though they deny that's what's going on as well, even though they also blame the English cast for the same issues as the Japanese cast with things like voices being too old for younger characters, monotone characters, or annoying characters.
This is really why a lot of fandom's are really shitty when you think about it.
