Just had some guy claim that an 11 second startup difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8 is actually something that matters. (He used this as a source: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2406668,00.asp Good source, btw. His argument was just fucked.) Then, he made this comment, when I said most people won't even notice that difference:
"... ask that to someone who's in the Army and fails a PT test by 11 seconds. Those matter, because either way it's failing and it's noticeable."
Note: A PT test is a physical training test that the Army does. My dad was an Army doctor, so he had to go through all of that.
So...this guy is comparing a PT test to a computer starting up. No one will notice an 11 second difference in startup times, unless they actually sit down with a timer. And, if you look on the article (scroll down until you see the chart), all the other numbers are like that. (The only significant thing is the browser benchmarks at the bottom, but most people still won't notice those, truth be told.) It's splitting hairs! And that's fucking dumb!
