So lately I've been running into people who always have their opinions in the extremes (I thought I was done with this when I cut Inst out of my life, but I was wrong). These people always seem to baffle me with how they either only despise something because of something minor, or think it's completely flawless, there's no middle ground.
I can't seem to grasp how their thought process works when they're overtly critical in some facets, but not critical enough in others.
For example, I'll be playing a Zelda game I've never played before, and we all know that every Zelda game has that one item that's pretty much useless outside of the dungeon you get it in. So in this particular game, I think that item is pretty stupid, so I'm going to condemn the game because it's now officially the worst Zelda game ever, who the fuck came up with this item? They completely ruined the game, I'm fucking blowtorching this disc.
But then I'll be playing another Zelda game, that has an even lamer item, or a really lame plot twist, and fans are ridiculing those parts of the game. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with those people, I fucking loved ever goddamn second of the game. That item adds so much to the game, it's obvious those haters are just whiny noobs and don't understand art when they see it.
/slight overdamatization.
Idk if it's just me being critical about things I like where I've reviewed one of my favorite games and gave it an 8/10, or I have a favorite album, but I think 2 of the songs are shit. Though it just confuses me when I meet people who only think in the extremes where they either think something is perfect, or think it's shit, and never think anything is "it was okay".
These guys just seem to humor me to no end when I see them talking about how something was awesome, and they'll then instantly hate it for something really trite, or see something they initially think is bullshit, and now magically think it's amazing, after spending so much time bitching about how they refuse to recognize it.
