You'll never hold all the information you learn. It's the way memory works - and it's a bitch. There are things you can do though. Repetition (just going over things at short, regular intervals) is a simple solution, as is association techniques (i.e. learning to associate key facts with something familiar - maybe a friend, or an item in the room), and mnemonics too. They can all help.
I think you should stop thinking about things as 'achievements', because it's leading you to believe that everything else is a failure, which is simply not true.
