I don't know, why do we even need categories for people? We assume that all people are individuals and then we put all these individuals in groups so that we don't have to think of them as individuals anymore. Why can't people just be people? If people want to identify specifically with a group thats fine, they can do that, but what right do we have to assign people to groups? And how are these groups relevant beyond trying to find people with similar interests? I don't think they are. There are demographic trends, but statistics have no application to the individual, so why does it even matter? If we just dealt with people as individuals we wouldn't need classifications.

We have no right to assign people with groups, which is why yesterday I said I felt disgusted with myself or however I worded it. None of this is how I think people should identify, just what I've accepted and/or what makes most sense to me.

In my opinion it really only needs to be divided by nationality (the actual definition, not what Americans think it means) simply because different nations have different values/mindsets.

Edit: Also, in no way is America the only overly politically correct country, lol.

Imo the classifications are because some of the ethnic groups have different culture. Kind of how we classify Americans by the region their state is in since the different regions have different cultures.

But even that isn't true. Just because a person belongs to a group doesn't mean they have certain values/mindsets. Maybe the majority of people in a country do, but I don't think you can really even say that anymore. I think that the world is too diverse to say that any country full of people thinks any certain way.

Not necessarily with individual beliefs, but growing up somewhere and/or immigrating somewhere and living there for a long period of time definitely shapes your world view.

I'm not talking about values and mindsets, I'm talking about culture in general. Sure generalization isn't always correct, but you can clearly see a difference in cultures between people from Chicago and people in Miami.

I wouldn't go as broad as nation. I think sometimes regional stuff.

Like your traffic laws thing. If you drive in Florida, if you don't hit the gas pedal the mere instance the light turns green, someone will honk their horn at you. Hell they do it when you stop at a red light.
