RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - fantanoice - 09-05-2014 Eh, they've been alright, I've had a few fails though and that's got me a bit worried. Worst part is that up to this year my University were using a screwed-up marking system that wasn't aligned with the rest of the state. They fixed it this year, but as a result of that, all my marks excluding the ones from this year don't get counted in my GPA. So dog. >.<' RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - WCPhils - 09-05-2014 will is waaaaaaaay too hard on himself RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - crazysam23 - 09-05-2014 (09-05-2014, 05:41 PM)fantanoice Wrote: Eh, they've been alright, I've had a few fails though and that's got me a bit worried.I completely bombed my first try at university. lol I went to work for a year, after that debacle. (Engineering school wasn't for me, man. Not at all...) Then, I got an Associate's Degree (a 2 year degree) in General Studies. Finally, I went to a state university and got my degree in Computer Science. (Most of the credits from my 2 year transferred over.) Point is, as long as you can prove you've learned from your mistakes and emphasize your strengths, most companies don't care about a few bad apples. I assume your degree audit report (or whatever they call it in Aussie Land) shows all the grade letters or percentages, despite your GPA being fucked? RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - Dilbert - 09-05-2014 Y'know what grinds my gears? People who act like role models but instead are a subversion of that. To begin with, I know someone in a separate community, so let's call him Curtis. Curtis was pretty well known for a satirical video series and as a result his popularity shot through the roof! He seemed pretty fun for the most part until a big dramafest came in involving a moron that RPed like crazy man. I sided with Curtis because I saw a lot of my friends share their darker sides, and everyone was blowing the whole thing out of proportion. But then Curtis had took a picture of me arguing with a former friend of mine how they need to stop, and Curtis took a picture of this, stating that this was not how you start drama, but nope. He took it because we were badmouthing him. Eventually, after this blew away,Curtis had this shtick where he said that overreacting killed people, which wasn't true (there's a lot of science to that), but I grew to know that Curtis had let the fame go to his head and became one of the most arrogant people I have ever seen. He became a paranoid recluse and soon made false lies up,never accepted decent criticism, wanted to be in first place, was insensitive and people half-witted even accepted his misworded, biased, self-serving advice. As of now, some friends and I in said community comment and make fun of his "tips" and "advice" for secretly feeding his extremely large hubris and predict that he'll do something really stupid and end up losing what he has left on the net. That was different from what I was expecting, but yeah, it's definitely a shame when you have a close friend who just completely devolved. I had a friend on MTB's parent site Mxtabs, who we were pretty cool with each other, but then he turned into a whiny hipster prick and rage quitted the internet "Because nobody likes his opinions" RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - Dilbert - 09-05-2014 Well, I wouldn't necessarily say Curtis was a close friend. But you do make a good point. It sucks losing a friend that degrades into a pile of shit. RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - Grungie - 09-05-2014 Lol well tbh this guy wasn't a close friend either, but we spent a bunch of time on the forum chatting, as we had similar tastes in music and video games. It wasn't unusual for him to be on hiatuses and disappear for a month or two, but one hiatus he came back and he became a massive shitbag. Now he turned into one of those pricks who always has to have an unpopular opinion, then throw a fit when nobody agrees with him. Then he started taking more frequent hiatuses, and he told me "everyone here is an asshole, so I go into hiding to make them feel bad for running me off". RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - Dilbert - 09-05-2014 Goddamn. I'd sure hate to meet that guy, that's for one thing. |
