RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - Grungie - 06-11-2014 So I still think that goofy 35 year old might be autistic, as some of the discussions/debates and such I see/engage with him, sometimes it'll come off as insane troll logic, but he leaves out parts of his arguments, and he'll be baffled that nobody understands him, until he'll say "that's not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about ____" and someone has to mention to him that he should have brought it up in the first place. Then there's times a user will be trying to either give him advice, or just trying to help him out in general over things, and he'll be flipping shit during it. It's like he has difficulty processing the information, so he'll flip shit until he finally calms down and starts listening. I do recall that some autistic people have difficulty regarding other people's feelings and emotions, and it seems like he has difficulty with understanding other people's opinions. As there's times where he either gets on to another user regarding a differing opinion, or he'll just flip the fuck out, or he'll say "you dislike RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - JCizzle - 06-11-2014 Geezus, dude. RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - wwf - 06-12-2014 I just wanted to say that #1 on here is about the truest thing I've ever read http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-popular-beliefs-that-are-holding-humanity-back_p2/ RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - Grungie - 06-12-2014 Lol, there's always dumb shit people will say to make themselves seem smarter. There's people out there who think that listening to obscure music means you're smarter. I think with those things, idiots see a statistic that there's a correlation between intelligent people and X, so they think if they like X, that means they too are smart. RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - Fantasyfanman - 06-12-2014 Or there are people that are like "I know Schrodinger's Cat and e=mc^2, I am so smart." Just because you know some things doesn't mean your smart, haha. By that definition I must be a freakin' genius. RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - JCizzle - 06-12-2014 I honestly question the rationality of some people. And engineer, for example, can look at blue prints and see a building will be safe. Is he smart? Sure. Can he work a sou vide machine? Probably not. A chef, on the other hand, can create many dishes and probably knows a lot about molecular gastronomy. Is he smart? Sure, at least when it comes to cooking. Can he look at blue prints and no a building is safe? No. Doctors can't build rockets, scientists may not be able to speak another language, etc. RE: The Venting/Ranting/Hugging Thread! - carlcockatoo - 06-12-2014 (06-12-2014, 06:35 AM)wwf Wrote: I just wanted to say that #1 on here is about the truest thing I've ever read #2 is even more true. I get very annoyed with this 'us vs. them' that justifies so much discrimination that is so ingrained into us that people think it doesn't count. Going with the 'excess population' idea, when the earthquake in Haiti happened a few years ago, someone told me that they were okay with it because Earth reacts to overpopulation and it's their own fault. This person said the same thing about New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina. It's very similar to misanthropes who basically attempt to make exceptions of themselves. Can he look at blue prints and no a building is safe? No.I get what you're saying, but I will point out that the reason those professionals can do those things is two-fold. 1) They have the basic intelligence to learn them. Most people have this, really. But it doesn't mean that certain people aren't very smart. Einstein, for instance. 2) They worked hard. People discount this one a lot! My dad, when he was studying for med school and studying in med school, saw so many people who were smart and had the desire to go to med school. Those who literally worked their asses off...they were the ones who got into and graduated from med school. Hard work is the key.
