Do you have a tutor? If not, try Justinguitar.com. Free guitar lessons.

Shit, I feel like an adbot now...

I use Justinguitar but I am mainly having trouble finding rhythem/strum pattern. I have been struggling with that for months.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. Most 4-chord songs (and similar stuff), it's actually assumed that the performer is going to use any strumming pattern that fits the rhythm. Since most of those type of songs are just in 4/4, that means just about anything works. I mean, don't go crazy and strum so fast that it sounds bad, but other than that...it's whatever.

Yeah, but if you look at things like this:

The strumming pattern keeps changing.

I see what you mean. Some tabs or guitar/vocal sheet music show the strum patterns.

Like so:

Although, not all of them show whether to use up- or dowstrokes. Problem is, sheet music is rarely free.

But some of the better tabs will show it as something like:
Code:
C           D
/ / / //    / // / /

So, the strums that are spaced out would be 4th notes, and the two that are close together would be 8th notes. If there's a space between two of them, then hold the chord (don't strum but let the chord sound) until the next slash mark.

I don't know what else to tell you, except make try pounding out the guitar strum beats with your hands for a song like this. Get the beat memorized. And then play the chords on guitar and/or sing.

It's kind of just something you get used to. You find out what sounds good for certain styles and it just becomes natural.

On another random guitar note (no pun intended) I was watching my fretting hand as I played the chords (which I do not usually do) and it was weird watching my hand making shapes that looked so unnatural.
