I think it's one of the few anime where even the most militant anti-dubbers defend the English dub.

Is the overall language any less cheesy in Japanese? Anyone know anything about Guilty Crown? Is it any good? I stumbled on it as a suggestion when I searched Hulu for Ghost in the Shell. All Hulu says about it is that it's basically a post-apocalyptic anime about a kid named Shu.

Some people also have a hard time telling if someone can't act, or is overacting in another language

I like that movie, I like the little nick nacks they have when they're borrowing at night.

Watching The Place Promised In Our Early Days and I'm kinda pissed because the subtitles for the english version don't match the voices at all. Sometimes there will be random lines on the screen with nothing being said, sometimes it'll just be out of sync and when it is they're using different words. Just frustrating because I generally like to have subtitles and that doesn't seem like something that would be hard to do correctly.

Wait, why the hell are you watching subtitles for the English version?

For whatever reason I have trouble understanding words a lot of times when I'm watching stuff which makes me either rewind which is a huge pain or I feel like I missed something. Subtitles also keep me engaged and I pay attention better.
I suppose the better question is why am I listening to the English version when I prefer subtitles anyway. To that I don't really know. The voices aren't bothering me in this though. |
