Damn, quick catch. It's both; depends on the person really. People who never have seen them in concert (or never talked to someone who has) don't really believe they can play. People who have seen them (or talked to someone who has) do believe they can play.

Yeah, now they actually stay in one spot when they're playing solos, they used to run around and shit, which is probably why they sounded like ass. They calmed down a lot.

Trying to solo while jumping on a mini trampoline isn't a good idea.

Exactly! As great as seeing a guitar player do that, people don't go to shows to see bands jump on mini-trampolines and generally show us how drunk they are. They want to hear the music.
