We need a thread for this awesome band. This is that thread.

Wiki blurb:

The Flaming Lips are an American rock band formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1983. Instrumentally, their sound contains lush, multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements, but lyrically their compositions show elements of space rock, including unusual song and album titles... They are also acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, giant hands, large amounts of confetti, and frontman Wayne Coyne's signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience

So yeah, I recently picked up a copy of The Soft Bulletin (generally considered their masterpiece album) and damn is it good good good. I also have a copy of Embryonic which is great. I just love their lush, psychedelic, pop-y sound.

You've probably heard She Don't Use Jelly, Yoshimi Battle The Pink Robots (Part 1), Do You Realize? and Race for The Prize, so here's a couple lesser-known songs to get you started:

I love them soooooo much. At War With the Mystics is a super underrated album. The W.A.N.D. and My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion have two of the best fuzz toanz ever.
Yeah, some of their fuzz tones are greeeaaaatt.

Case in point:

Dat fuzzified bass.

If I was ever to have a band as big as them, I would totally make the live performances as fanholyshitmegaawesomefuckingtastic as theirs are.
They're great. I saw them two years ago at Summerfest. It was amazing. I teared up when Wayne came out in the giant bubble.
If you haven't seen it...

I haven't. I need to make time to watch it though. There's also a cool Pitchfork one about The Soft Bulletin which I need to watch in full (I've seen the first 10 minutes or so) sometime.
