So, I'm using several drum sounds from Erkan's Organized Samples. It sounds pretty good, but it's clipping in my DAW, especially the bass. I definitely like the warm quality of the whole set (especially the snare and bass) and how the hi-hat doesn't sound like someone gave it a dose of helium. Anyway, suggestions on how to keep it from clipping?

What exactly do you mean by clipping?

*I'm shit when it comes to recording.
I mean there's a distortion in sound quality because the levels are too high. However, no matter how low I turn things down, it all still clips.
Sounds like you have a lot of reverb
Well that might explain it.
It sounds like he has a large hall reverb, or a concert reverb going. Either turn the level down or try a small/medium room reverb.

There's reverb on several channels, but I will try that. Thanks.

I switched to a small room reverb. Thoughts?

I still feel like it's clipping, btw.

I think I fixed it. I chose a room IR that had less gain, and clipping gone! Big Grin

It's also louder as well, by default. I think ambiance small room IRs are the way to go for me.

I usually go for the smaller rooms. I don't really like the sound of hall reverb
Well, I don't mind hall reverb, but I don't think it really would fit everything else I'm recording. I just got a bunch of new room IRs, so I was trying several out, lol. I like my drums to sound like they're not recorded in some closet but also not recorded in some giant concert hall. Happy medium.
