The real money in the US is Naruto and One Piece, though I'll agree that Monogatari is way more niche than SAO but Madoka I'm a little on the fence about since it seems pretty widely known and Rebellion was playing in theaters and stuff.
but maybe I'm just around anime fans too much and my opinion is biased (more than it obviously would be anyway)
I will agree that Madoka is more popular than Monogatari from what I understand, but still only "serious" anime fans know about it. Basically the ones that know more than what's super popular at the time or shown on TV and do some digging.
That's true, people that only watch AS for anime won't know what it is, though Crunchyroll does stream it.
But they're still way more obscure than Funimation is to the average watcher ;_;
Well when you sell shows like DBZ, One Piece, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Fairy Tail, and now Attack on Titan, people know who you are.
My only gripe with Funimation is that they need some new actors as they recycle too much of the same actors. Like if you already saw 2 Funimation shows and then start on a third one, (slightly exaggerating) about 2/3rds of the cast will have been in the 2 shows you watched beforehand.
They use the guy that voiced Ichijo too much, I hear him pretty often when I do listen to dubs
Also I'm pretty sure adult swim gets all their shows from Funimation, so just like everything there
Really wish AS would air even like one subbed anime, just like test the waters m8
I'm assuming you mean Ichigo, but yeah, I hear him ALOT. He's a great actor, but it does start to become annoying when you hear the same 3 people over and over. They have like 5 romantic comedies where the two leads are voiced by Todd Haberkorn and Alexis Tipton. That takes away the "individuality" of the shows.

and yea, that gets irritating. Though I also see people post bad sub translation pics for their streaming, but I've never really had a problem with it
For what Funimation? I personally don't have a problem with their sub quality, though I don't give that much of a shit to begin with. Though half the time I do see people being used to the incorrect fansub translations and assuming those were right, and then the prosubs come out that are actually accurate and they throw a fuss because they think it's "wrong".
This has happened numerous times and also in other media forms, so I'm always a bit skeptic on this, though most of it is my lack of fucks given.
If I'm gonna be looking at specific subs, I'm gonna go to crymore and see what they're like before watching.
Which I used to do alot but now I just watch whatever cause I stream instead of downloading.
And the best people to listen imo are the people that can actually explain why they're wrong or how they got the different translations and why one if better ect
That's a very small percentage with my experience. Most people I run into are like Institutions who are oversensitive fucks who base themselves around crymore and say "ruined forever" for very minor shit. Idk, I just have a knack of running into Inst type people. Most of my good animu friends are in the same "I'll watch whatever I get my hands on" camp as I am. Also with my level of Japanese, the differences I notice are pretty minor imo.
