Early on, yeah. That does go away, as your fingers toughen up.
And they'll probably get all callused too, but it's just a phase. It'll all be worth it though when you start feeling your left (or right if you're a lefty) hand finger tips harden like rock. Eventually you'll be able to crush bones with just your finger tips. Blades cannot pierce them and bullets will deflect off of them.
I can cut glass with my rock hard cock fingertips
Well I will be looking forward to my finger tips to callouse. They still hurt.
I don't even need knives anymore. Just cut my steak with my callouses like a real man
It definitely takes a while at first. I think its faster to get them back later if you just haven't played in a while. I definitely remember having some serious finger pain issues when I first started playing really seriously though. I would play a couple hours a day, but then even though I wanted to keep playing it just got to the point where it hurt too much.

Just don't overdo it and cut yourself or something. There should be no blood involved.

You're doing it wrong.
Blood lubricates your strings, improving your legato while keeping them in tip top shape. Plus it makes your tone more br00tal foe teh metulz.
Exactly, also you have to sacrifice a small child to the devil to level up your guitar abilities, so to say no bloodshed is bullshit.
Lol, okay, noted.

And no metulz for me, I am learning acoustic.
