Well the domain name is a different payment, so you guys will still have ads.
ah
@Mac: Oh I know. That's why I said if I was hella rich I'd rather run my own. lol @ all the people buying Kony 2012 bracelets when that was a thing.

The ads on this site are extremely tame and not even an issue. It's just banner ads at the top and bottom that don't pop up, don't make any noise, and don't take up half the screen.
I've disabled adblock for the past about three days and I haven't seen any ads here yet Confusedhrug:

Tongue
Really? The ads are at the top and bottom of the pages.
I dunno Confusedhrug:
So I stalk this forum promotion site for possible forums to affiliate with, with the small hopes of gaining more members, or just building a network or whatever. Anyway, I found another music forum, and it seemed to have high hopes, as it's run by a staff member who reviews forums for the site. So I figured this guy might know what he's doing.

Sadly, this isn't the case, as the guy's not even trying. I just try and help out with posting and making threads, and after the first few threads I made, he stopped giving a shit. I make threads, he ignores it, he makes a thread, I post, he ignores it. He's not just ignoring me, he does this to everyone. It also doesn't seem like he's neglecting the forum either, as he updates the place and shit, and is online a lot, so he might think the content is just gonna come to him.

I've mentioned already how the review staff never give anyone more than a 65% score on a forum review, and it seems like all of them can't run a forum to save their life, as all of them basically do what this guy does. So I find it obnoxious that these guys act like they're experts on forums and tell people their forums suck and bitch about their activity, when these people don't even bother trying.

They also have this monthly competition where they have a forum of the month, and you submit your site, and they'll decide which one is the best out of the bunch. I'm not sure what the qualifications are, but I do find it kind of sad when an inactive forum wins forum of the month. This could be my assumption, but there's a possible bias towards the staff members, when the last two or three winners were all staff members. Though I haven't really paid attention either.
Damn, next to that, we're looking pretty good.
Not to sound conceited or anything, we're doing better than the vast majority on that site. Like what happened in the beginning on old MTB, some forums will have an initial wave of traffic, and the admins will think "yeah, this is going great", then all at once the traffic just slows down significantly, and then it'll just pretty much die. A lot of people lose motivation during that, and just shut it down

Though there's also ones where, due to various reasons, don't even get that initial wave. It is sad for some of those forums, but I don't have much sympathy for ones where the admin makes a forum, and doesn't try to do anything, and thinks it'll just magically take off.

I am a bit jelly of that anime forum that 30 year old is on, a week or two ago they celebrated their one year anniversary, and they already have almost 50k posts. I wish we were getting that kind of traffic.
Wow, I wonder how that is. But yeah, certainly admin activity contributes a lot to traffic.
